Anders Nilsson (ice hockey)

Anders Nilsson (born 19 March 1990 in Luleå ) is a Swedish professional ice hockey goaltender who stands since May 2011 at the New York Islanders in the National Hockey League contract. His father Peder Nilsson and his brother Jens Nilsson were also professional hockey players.

Career

Anders Nilsson began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the junior department of the Luleå HF, for the first team, he made his debut in the Elitserien during the 2008/ 09 season. In his only use of the goalkeeper remained in 28 minutes without conceding. In the following season he was in 27 games for Lulea between the post and had a Gegentorschnitt from 2.65 to. In the season 2010/11 he was able to increase again and let in the main round on average only 1.92 goals per game to what constitutes the best value of all the Elitserien - Torwärte. His catch rate was 91.8 percent. In the playoffs, he led his team to the semifinals, where he was able to improve its quota to 93.1 percent and reached a Gegentorschnitt of 1.96 per game. Thus he belonged in the playoffs of the best goalkeepers in the league.

In KHL Junior Draft 2011 Nilsson was selected in the first round as a whole tenth player from HK Dinamo Minsk. However, he wrote previously in May 2011 a contract with the New York Islanders of the National Hockey League, who had selected him in the NHL Entry Draft in 2009 in the third round than a total of 62 players.

Internationally

For Sweden Nilsson took part in the junior level at the U20 Junior World Cup 2010, where he won the bronze medal with his team. In the senior level, he stood for the first time at the World Cup 2011 squad in his country. During the tournament, in which Sweden won the silver medal, he remained as a substitute goalkeeper without use.
