Anderson County (Kansas)

Anderson County is a county in the east of the state of Kansas in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Garnett.

Geography

The County is located in Eastern Kansas, is about 40 km from the state border to Missouri and has an area of 1513 square kilometers, of which four square kilometers of water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Franklin County, Miami County, Linn County, Bourbon County, Allen County, Woodson County and Coffey County.

History

Anderson County was formed on 30 August 1855 as original County and one of the first 33 counties that were formed by the first territorial administration. It was named for Joseph C. Anderson, an American politician.
