Andolsheim

Andolsheim is a commune with 2232 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Haut-Rhin in the Alsace region. She is a member of the Association of Municipalities Pays du Ried Brun and capital of the canton of the same name.

Geography

Andolsheim lies between the river Ill in the West, the D415 in the east, Sundhoffen in the south and the hamlet Wihr -en- Plaine, which belongs to Horbourg- Wihr, in the north, 5 kilometers southeast of Colmar. Behind the Territory road, west and southwest of the community, is the state forest " box forest ".

History

Andolsheim was mentioned as Ansulfishaim ( Andulfs home ) for the first time in 768 in a document. The place names -heim are in vogue from the 6th century, they are testimony to the Frankish conquest.

Until 1324 the place of the feudal lords of Horbourg, then fell Horbourg, and thus Andolsheim was, to the Counts of Württemberg, which in 1538 introduced the Reformation.

Between 1793 and 1851, the population of the community grew. Then she dropped to 1946. During the second half of the 20th century, the church grew. In 2006, she had more than three times as many inhabitants as 1793.

Attractions

An original church in Andolsheim 801 was first mentioned, it was dedicated to Saint Denis at the time. With the introduction of the Reformation, the patron saint of the church fell into oblivion. From 1687 to 1883 the church was used as a simultaneous church and consecrated Saint Georges. From medieval building exists today only the bell tower and the choir from the 13th century. In 1650 the nave was rebuilt. 1737 West Portal was established in 1838 and renewed the west facade. In 1985 the interior of the church was renovated, now part of the parish Sundhoffen. The church organ was built around 1780 by Martin Bergäntzel. In 1958, the organ was restored and renewed from 1979 to 1980.

The Catholic church Saint -Georges was built from 1882 to 1883 and ended the use of the other Catholic church Saint -Georges. The interior of the church, however, was not completed until 1890. This church was also renovated in 1985. It belongs to the parish Horbourg- Wihr.

At the Mairie ( mayor ) is a landmark in 1754, on which the coat of arms of the Dukes of Württemberg is shown.

Economy

Major lines of business of Andolsheimois are farming, viticulture, fruit growing and breeding of domestic animals of bovine, ovine and porcine.
