Andorra national basketball team

The Andorran national basketball team represents Andorra in international basketball matches of the men, such as in international tournaments and friendly matches.

So far the team failed to qualify for the Olympic Games, World Championships or European Championships themselves.

History

Sport in general took in Andorra only slowly organized forms. It was not until 1971, the small state its own Olympic Committee, which was established in 1975 recognized by the International Olympic Committee. As early as 1970 founded with the BC Andorra one of the first basketball clubs in Andorra, which could be regarded in the beginning as a " national of Andorra ", since there played the best Andorran basketball. At times, this club played several years in the highest basketball league of Spain, the ACB league.

Officially, the national team of Andorra was founded in 1988 and has since also a member of the FIBA. Participation in a major tournament the team has not succeeded. For this, four times they won the gold medal at the FIBA European Championships for small countries, zuletzte, 2012. Moreover, the team won a gold medal in 1989 for Andorra at the games of the small states of Europe.
