Andover (also City of Andover ) is a city in Anoka County in the U.S. state of Minnesota. It is located in the north of the metropolitan area of the Twin Cities and has around 30,000 inhabitants.
Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the area of the city is 90.6 square miles, of which 1.7 square miles of water. Situated in the south of Crooked Lake is the only major lake in the city of Andover, but is predominantly in Coon Rapids.
History
The origins of the present-day city Andover go back to the year 1857. There, the Round Lake Township was established. In 1860 the name was changed in honor of Senator Galusha A. Grow in Grow Township. At the time the population was comprised of about 330 inhabitants. However, the area also included parts of today's city of Ham Lake. As in the second half of the 20th century began a stronger population growth, the Township was first converted into a village in 1972. It was decided that this should get a new name. The historically significant name " Andover " is selected. Two years later, Andover also received city rights. At the 2000 census, the city had 26,588 inhabitants already, later also the limit of 30,000 residents has been exceeded.

The median income for a household is $ 76,241, a family of $ 78,785. The per capita income is $ 26,317. About 1.2 % of the population and 2.0% of families are below the poverty line.
