Andover (also City of Andover ) is a city in Anoka County in the U.S. state of Minnesota. It is located in the north of the metropolitan area of ​​the Twin Cities and has around 30,000 inhabitants.

Geography

History

The origins of the present-day city Andover go back to the year 1857. There, the Round Lake Township was established. In 1860 the name was changed in honor of Senator Galusha A. Grow in Grow Township. At the time the population was comprised of about 330 inhabitants. However, the area also included parts of today's city of Ham Lake. As in the second half of the 20th century began a stronger population growth, the Township was first converted into a village in 1972. It was decided that this should get a new name.
