Andover is a town in Windsor County, the State of Vermont in the United States with 467 inhabitants ( according to the census of 2010).

The area is located east of the main ridge of the Green Mountains and is crossed in the first line of the tributaries of the Williams River. The highest elevations in the area of the Town of Markham are Mountain and Mt Terrible in the west of the area. The residents of the community live primarily from agriculture.

History

The area of ​​the town was proclaimed on October 13, 1761 for settlement and sold. First settlers came from about 1768 into the country; to the first permanent, existing even over the winter branches it came but it was only 1776. The constituent town meeting was held in March 1780. The removal of part of the original territory of the Town as a separate Town Weston, which had been prepared as early as 1790, it was decided by the Senate of Vermont on October 26, 1799.

The first Baptist church was founded on August 31, 1803 and 1809 consolidated into existence by its own community center. The congregation of Universalists formed 1807. 1828 the church was equipped with eight schools. Around 1840 is in the community primarily agriculture and livestock, with particular sheep farming spread.

The census of 1790, ie before the spin-off of Weston, showed a population of 275 people in Andover; in the census of 1800, there were already more than 1,000 inhabitants, of whom more than 40% under 10 years old (again, the area of Weston is still included).
