Andraé Crouch

Andraé Crouch ( born July 11, 1942 in Los Angeles ) is an American gospel singer and composer.

At age nine, Crouch began to sing and play the piano - without formal training. In 1965 he formed his band "The Disciples ", which was successful on worldwide tours. He made a name for itself in the field of gospel and soul. Without being able to read music, he has composed many songs, such as " My Tribute (To God Be The Glory ) " and "The Blood Will Never Lose its Power". When he was shunned for drug problems of the gospel scene for a while, he devoted himself to secular music. From him are songs to the soundtracks of "The Lion King ", " Free Willy " and " The Color Purple ," for which he also received numerous Grammys.

Throughout his career, Crouch worked with Elvis Presley, Quincy Jones (Back on the Block ), Michael Jackson, Madonna and Paul Simon together. Meanwhile, he has returned to the gospel scene and took over the parish of his father. Highlights of his career were his gospel success with the songs " Jesus is the Answer " and " Soon and very soon we are going to see the King".
