András Frank

András Frank ( born June 3, 1949 in Budapest) is a Hungarian mathematician who deals with combinatorics.

Frank studied from 1967 to 1972 at the Eotvos Lorand University and in 1980 at Laszlo Lovasz Ph.D. from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in 1990 and his habilitation ( doctor's degree in the Russian system ). He is a professor in the Department of Operations Research, Eötvös Lorand University of. 2011-2014 he is there also director of the Mathematical Institute.

Frank addresses specifically graph theory and combinatorial optimization. He founded and directs the research group for combinatorial optimization Eötvös University and Hungarian Academy of Sciences ( egres ).

With his doctoral student Eva Tardos, he showed how some polynomialzeitlich detachable combinatorial optimization problems can be solved much polynomialzeitlich.

In 2002 he was awarded the Tibor Szele Janos Bolyai Prize of the Society and in 2009 the Albert Szent- Györgyi price.
