Andre Cason

Andre Cason ( born January 20, 1969 in Virginia Beach ) is a retired American sprinter.

The first major success in the 100 -meter run, he celebrated with victories at the IAAF World Junior Championships in 1988 in Greater Sudbury and at the Universiade 1989 in Duisburg and the silver medal at the Pan American Games in 1991 in Havana.

At the IAAF World Indoor Championships in Seville in 1991 he won the 60 - meter dash. In the same year he won the U.S. 4 x 100 -meter relay gold medal at the IAAF World Championships in Tokyo. He presented together with Leroy Burrell, Dennis Mitchell and Carl Lewis with a time of 37.50 s set a new world record.

In February 1992, he presented with 6.41 seconds for a world record in the 60 meters in the hall, which was undercut in 1998 by Maurice Greene by 2 hundredths of a second. In the eternal world leaderboard Andre Cason came in second behind his compatriot still in second place (March 2009). Because of an injury he sustained in the U.S. knockouts, he missed participating in the Olympic Games in Barcelona. There the victorious U.S. team improved the world record in the 4 x 100 meters relay at 37.40 s - up to Cason, who was replaced by Michael Marsh, with the same runners as last year in Tokyo.

He was U.S. champion in the 100 meters in 1993. However, his time of 9.85 s was not included in the leaderboards due to illegal tailwind. At the World Athletics Championships in Stuttgart as he won two years earlier in Tokyo with the relay gold medal. In addition, he secured a personal best of 9.92 s, beaten only by Linford Christie, the silver medal over 100 meters.
