André Courrèges

André Courrèges ( born March 9, 1923 in Pau ) is a French fashion designer.

Life

He studied civil engineering and bridge building and went at the age of 25 years to Paris to work for fashion house Geanne Lafaurie. After a few months he moved to the Paris fashion house of Spanish designer Balenciaga and was from 1950 to 1961 Balanciagas assistant. There he received training in the field of fashion design. Style and creations

He has influenced the fashion of the 1960s with its highly futuristic, style similar to the aerospace designs.

The " Courrèges " style, which was characterized as " tough chic ", was created in 1964 and was successful. This style was based on constructed sections and a geometric construction. Courrèges introduced the Mini, the Mary Quant had made in London to a part of street fashion, into the Paris haute couture. In 1965, he launched the " moon maiden or space look ", in reference to space exploration in the 1960s. In 1969 he brought knitted jumpsuits on the market. Architecture and Design

The late 1970s and early 1980s, André Courrèges created for the sanitary manufacturer Kolo a series of plumbing equipment such as toilet bowls, toilet seats with lids and wash basin. The series " Courreges " was produced by the end of 2008. Despite the great success of this series has been discontinued, as André Courrèges and the manufacturer Kolo could not agree on the amount of the royalties.
