André Henri Constant van Hasselt

André Henri Constant van Hasselt (Dutch Andries Hendrik van Hasselt, born January 5, 1806 Maastricht, † December 1, 1874 in Brussels) was a Belgian poet and chronicler of Dutch origin.

Andries Hendrik van Hasselt was to 1830 first Dutch citizen. As a result of the Belgian Revolution and the subsequent independence, however, van Hasselt then received the citizenship of Belgium. He studied at the Universities of Ghent and Liège. After successfully completing his studies, he got a job in state administrative.

Later, van Hasselt was a curator at the Royal Library at Brussels (now the National Library ) was appointed. He then held the post of inspector of primary education and the Écoles normal.

1837 van Hasselt was accepted as a member of the Royal Academy.

Four weeks before his 68th birthday died André Henri Constant van Hasselt on 1 December 1874 in Brussels and found his final resting place.
