Andre Lakos

André Lakos ( born July 29, 1979 in Vienna) is an Austrian ice hockey player who is currently with the Vienna Capitals in the EBEL under contract.

Career

André Lakos began his career in Canada, where he played for the junior teams from Montreal- Bourassa and the Shelburne Wolves. Between 1997 and 1999 he ran in the Ontario Hockey League on for the Toronto St. Michael's Majors and Barrie Colts before he was selected during the NHL Entry Draft in 1999 in the third round to 95th place overall by the New Jersey Devils. The Devils brought Lakos in their farm team, the Albany River Rats, for he went into the following three seasons in the American Hockey League on the ice. In January 2002, the Devils traded him against Valeri Kamensky of the Dallas Stars, for whom he never played. Instead, he came at their farm team, the Utah Grizzlies, in the AHL for use.

In North America, since he could not free himself and his goal, the NHL, did not come closer, he returned in the summer of 2002 returned to Europe and played in the next two years for the Vienna Capitals of the Austrian Hockey League. In July 2004 he was engaged as a free agent by the Columbus Blue Jackets, but failed again in the NHL squad and was in their farm team, Syracuse Crunch, deported. After the following season in the AHL Lakos returned again to Austria and signed a contract with EC Red Bull Salzburg, with whom he was Austrian Champion in 2007. For this success, he was 44 points scorer in in 52 games this season, so again an NHL club became aware of the now 27 -year-olds. First Lakos signed a contract with the Swedish first division Färjestad BK, but in mid-June 2007, he was taken by the Minnesota Wild under contract and tried on a training camp to get a regular place in the NHL.

Due to an injury in preparation for the 2007/08 season Lakos could not fully participate in the training camp of the Minnesota Wild and end of September 2007 was sent to the farm team, the Houston Aeros in the AHL. He should get some match practice and recommend good services for the NHL. After eleven games for Houston in the AHL Lakos gave up and returned to Europe, where he fulfilled his contract with the Färjestads BK. With his new club, he reached the playoffs the season 2007/ 08, but came into this because of a jaw fracture not used. After leaving the playoff semi-final, the club's management decided to undertake a reorganization of the team and gave Lakos a new contract, which then offers various European clubs probed. Ultimately, he opted for the HC Traktor Chelyabinsk in the KHL since appealed to him the new league.

For tractor he scored in 44 KHL games of the season 2008/ 09 twelve points scorer with 71 penalty minutes and was one of the most widely used players of his team. So he recommended for a contract extension, which he received in May 2009. His contract was dissolved with tractor for personal reasons on 10 January 2010, he returned to Austria to his former club EC Red Bull Salzburg. After winning the championship in 2011, he could not agree with the people of Salzburg on a new contract and joined the 2011/12 season to DEL club Kölner Haie. After failing to meet the expectations of Cologne, he agreed with the club in January 2012 to terminate the contract. Lakos then moved up to the Vienna Capitals, for which he still played 16 games in the season 2011 /12.

Internationally

Lakos began early in his career to represent Austria at international tournaments - he took part in the European Championships in 1996 and 1997 and the Junior C World Cup 1997. In 1999, he was part of the squad of the Austrian national team and appeared with this at nine World Championships and the 2002 Winter Olympics. In 2006 he managed at the World Championship Division I with the national team promotion to the top division.
