André (singer)

Andre (Armenian Անդրե, actually Անդրեյ Հովնանյան, Andrej Hownanjan; born July 8, 1979 in Stepanakert, Nagorno-Karabakh, Azerbaijan SSR, Soviet Union) is an Armenian singer. He represented for the first time participating Armenia at Euro Vision Song Contest 2006 in Athens (Greece). With his song Without Your Love, which was composed of arms Martirosjan and written by Catherine Bekian, he finished with 129 points in eighth place.

Andres birthplace Stepanakert is located in Nagorno-Karabakh. In his official CV is therefore specified as origin Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, which is still part of the territory of Azerbaijan among others view the United Nations and the Council of Europe after. This has led to sharp diplomatic protests from Azerbaijan.
