André Vonarburg

André Vonarburg (born 16 January 1978) is a Swiss rower and multiple Swiss Champion in various disciplines.

He grew up on Lake Sempach ( in Sempach ) and was introduced by his father in rowing, where he quickly fought his way to the top of juniors. He trained in Seeclub Sempach. For this he was throughout his career 22 Swiss Championship (9 in one, 6 in the double sculls, quadruple sculls in 7 ) and win 12 Swiss Championship on the ergometer. As a junior, he was also able to win twice at the Junior World Championships bronze. The former economics student now plays for Switzerland at international competitions and was part of during his studies also still students in the skiff world champion.

Vonarburg took previously at three Olympics in part (Sydney, Athens, Beijing). At the Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000 he reached the fifth rank in the quadruple sculls. At the Olympic Games in Athens in 2004, he went to eighth place in the final skiff. At the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008, also in the skiff, he reached the rank ninth circuit.

Since 2009 he is rowing together with Florian Stofer in the double sculls. Together they could errudern in the European Championships of 2009, the silver medal. In 2011, he was treated with Florian Stofer together in the quadruple sculls with Nico Stahlberg and Jeremy Maillefer. It quickly became apparent that in this situation more than potential lies in the double sculls. After a few training sessions resulted two fourth places at the World Cup in Hamburg and Lucerne. This gave the veteran new hope for the Olympic Games in London 2012.
