Andrea Borella

Andrea Borella ( born June 23, 1961 in Mestre ) was an Italian foil fencer. He participated in three Olympic Games, winning a gold medal.

Career

Borella in 1981 and 1983, European champion in foil individual. He competed at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles in the foil individual and with the foil team. In individual he could reach fifth place, with the team he won gold, although Borella in the final lost all bets. Four years later, at the Summer Olympics in 1988 in Seoul, Bortella was unable to repeat his success of Los Angeles. With the team he reached seventh place in the individual only the 41st. In his last at the Olympics, 1992 Barcelona, Borella could reach the fifth place in foil - single again. With the team he managed a sixth place.

Borella won at the World Fencing Championship in 1986 and a single title with the team four gold, five silver and one bronze medal. He married the fencer Francesca Bortolozzi.
