Andrea Calmo

Andrea Calmo (* 1510 in Venice, † 1571 ) was an Italian actor and playwright in the Renaissance.

Life

Calmo achieved fame with his comedies. Some of these were classical models retightened, such as " Rodiana " ( 1540) and " Travaglia " ( 1546), while other realistic original gaskets were ( " La Spagnola " in 1549 and " Saltuzza ", 1551 ). Some characters could speak Calmo elegant Italian, but used also popular Northern Italian dialects. His dialect collections of letters on varied topics were very popular. Calmo was a supporter Angelo Beolco, also known as " Ruzzante ", and precursors of the commedia dell'arte.
