Andrea Cossu ( May 3, 1980 in Cagliari ) is an Italian footballer who is since 2008 at Cagliari Calcio in Serie A under contract.

Career

Association

Andrea Cossu began his professional career in the 1996/97 season at Olbia Calcio in the fourth highest Italian league. He made his debut on 29 September 1996 in the home match against AC Lumezzane for Olbia. In the summer of 1997, the Series B- club Hellas Verona took him under contract. The midfielder, however, was used in the following two seasons only in the Primavera, with whom he starred at the Primavera Championship. In order to gather again in professional leagues match practice, Cossu changed in January 1999 on loan to the former amateur club AC Lumezzane. When the Lombards he could well add to the team over the next 2 ½ years, and returned in the summer of 2001 back to Verona. He could not prevail again in Verona and graduated from a single League game. In January 2002, followed by the temporary engagement at third division ASD Torres Calcio the next loan.

In the Sardinian club the midfielder managed to quickly jump to the root formation and contributed with a hit in twelve games for the team's success at. After emergence of the loan period in the summer of 2002, again followed by the return to his original club Hellas Verona. This time he managed to convince at first with constant performance and to develop into a regular player. After Verona with the promotion to Serie A just missed out in the 2004/05 season, he then left the club and signed a contract in his home town of Cagliari Calcio. In Cagliari he received in the 2005 / 06 22 missions in the highest Italian league and remained without a goal. He played the next two years again at the Venetian club Hellas Verona, with whom he had, however, relegated to the Serie C1 after the wayward season 2006/ 07 after a loss in the play-out games against Spezia Calcio. After a few games in the third-tier Serie C1, Cossu returned in the summer of 2008 back to Cagliari.

In the Sardinians he made the second attempt the leap into the root formation and placed with the team in the 2008/ 09 season on the ninth of the series A.

National

After Cossu was taken into account in the years between 2000 and 2002 for the U -16 and U-18 youth team, coach Marcello Lippi offered it for the first time in the squad of the Italian national football team for the friendly match on 3 March 2010 against Cameroon. The midfielder could play through the entire game in the 0-0 draw against Cameroon.
