Andrea Eskau

Andrea Eskau ( born March 21, 1971 in Apolda ) is a German handcycle athlete. It starts at the time of the USC Magdeburg. In addition, they will start in the winter biathlon and cross-country skiing.

The psychologist who is a paraplegic since a bicycle accident in 1998, earned their first competition in 2002. Garnering far 10 world titles won since 2003 and at least one national title every year. In addition, she won many World Cup races and numerous City Marathon. At the Hamburg Marathon 2011 she set a new world record in hand bike riding with 1:04:09 and thus beat the old record by Monique van der Vorst by almost eight minutes.

In the summer 2008 Paralympics Andrea Eskau won the gold medal in the road race in the hand bike riders. In the Summer Paralympics in London 2012 Andrea Eskau won the gold medal in both the time trial and road race.

After only a few months of training, she competed at the 2010 Winter Paralympics in Vancouver in the disciplines of biathlon and cross-country skiing and won this bronze medal on the 10-km biathlon and the silver medal at the 5-km cross-country route.

At the Winter Paralympics in Sochi in 2014 she took on March 8, her first gold medal at Winter Paralympics at the 6 -kilometer biathlon track. Four days later, she took her second bronze medal at the Paralympic Winter Games, 1 km Sprint, but this was denied her. On the last day of the Winter Paralympics, she won gold in cross-country skiing about 5 km.
