Andrea Falconieri

Andrea Falconiero ( Falconieri ) (* around 1585 probably in Spain, † July 29, 1656 probably in Naples) was an Italian lutenist, singer and composer.

Falconieri participated in various Italian noble courts, Modena and Parma, Genoa and since 1639 the Spanish occupied the royal court of Naples, where he worked as a lutenist and Theorbenspieler. Between 1621 and 1628 he traveled to Spain and France. He died during a plague epidemic in 1656.

His work consists of motets, madrigals, villanelles with guitar tablature and instrumental works.

"Il Libro Primo di Canzone, Sinfonie, Fantasy, Capricci, Brandi, Correnti, Galliard, Alemane, volte by violini, viole overo altro strumento á uno, due, et tré con il basso continuo ," Juan José de Austria, illegitimate son of Spanish King Philip IV dedicated. In this work he combines the Italian and Spanish style of the early Baroque dance music.
