Andrea Fortunato

Andrea Fortunato ( born July 26, 1971 in Salerno, † April 25, 1995 in Perugia ) was an Italian football player.

Life

At the beginning of the 1990s, Fortunato was one of the biggest hopes in Italian football, he began his professional career in the 1989/90 season at Como Calcio in Serie B. His team was relegated at the end of this season in the C series from Fortunato was in the following season to key players. With good performance, he attracted the attention of bigger clubs up.

In summer 1991, he moved to Genoa, from which he was first hired for one year to Pisa Calcio in Serie B and then debuted in the 1992/93 season in Serie A. After his first season in Genoa, he was in the summer of 1993, committed by Juventus, where he was immediately became a regular player in Serie A.

On September 22, 1993, he had under Arrigo Sacchi at the game in Tallinn against Estonia its only use in the national team.

In May 1994, an acute form of leukemia was diagnosed with Andrea Fortunato. After several operations, he seemed to win the battle against the disease. His body was still very weak in the subsequent period and then Fortunato infected with a virus and died a few days later, on 25 April 1995 with only 23 years of pneumonia.

The Italian public, but especially his family and his teammates Juventus were shocked. His best friend, Fabrizio Ravanelli, left at once from a meeting of the national team. Andrea Fortunato won the Scudetto posthumously, to his team, of course, dedicated to him.
