Andrea Solari

Andrea Solari ( * 1460 in Milan, † 1524 ) was an Italian painter of the Renaissance.

Life and work

Solari got his first art lessons by his brother, the sculptor Christoforo Solari. Later he went to Venice and became in 1490 a pupil of Giovanni Bellini. From there, Solari moved to the workshop of Leonardo da Vinci and became one of his most important successor. From 1507 to 1509 he worked in France.

At the age of 64 years, the painter Andrea Solari died in 1524 in Milan.
