Andreas Behm

Andreas Behm ( born November 28, 1962 in Stralsund ) is a German former weightlifter in the lightweight class.

He took in the period 1971-2000 participated in numerous athletic competitions and placed in this period 21 national records in the GDR and three world records. Highlight of his career was winning the bronze medal at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona. A vice world championship in single combat, and two European titles supplement his list of successes. Last major trophy was the German Cup in 1998 in the rain. Andreas Behm won 38 medals at Olympic Games and World and European Championships. He is the most successful German weightlifter.

In 2000, this exceptional athlete adopted by active performance sports.

Andreas Behm currently lives in Stralsund and coached the youth team of the 1860 Stralsund.

Behm is married and the father of Robert " Robby " Behm, who for 1860 was also active at the beginning of his sporting career and 2012 season moved to Chemnitz AC.
