Andreas Freytag

Andreas Freytag ( born October 23, 1962 in Kiel ) is a German economist and university professor.

Life and work

After an apprenticeship in banking Freytag studied economics at the Christian -Albrechts -University of Kiel. He also worked as a student assistant for Herbert Giersch, a professor at this University and president of the Institute for the World Economy.

He earned his doctorate at Juergen B. Donges, a professor at the University of Cologne and Director of the " Institute for Economic Policy." As of 1995, Freytag was managing director of this institute.

Since 2003, Freytag holds the Chair for Economic Policy at the Friedrich -Schiller- University Jena.

Freytag is one of the authors of the INSM blog " economists Blog".
