Andreas Gregor

Andreas Gregor ( * April 27, 1955 in Dresden ) is a former coxswain in rowing. 1980 Gregor was with the crew of the German Democratic Republic ( GDR), Olympic champion in the four with coxswain.

Life

Andrew Gregory coached at SC Einheit Dresden under Hans Eckstein. In 1977 he became the helmsman of Dresdner foursome with Ullrich Dießner, Gottfried Döhn, Walter Dießner and Dieter Wendish, the 1977 and 1978 won the world championship in this lineup. In 1979, only the Dießners could qualify for the World Cup, but in 1980 the Dresden boat the years 1977 and 1978 was back together and won at the Olympic Games in Moscow, where they had four and a half seconds ahead of the Soviet boat in the target. He was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in silver for this success.

After 1981, a rowing community from Potsdam and Magdeburg took for the GDR and also won the World Championship, drove a 1982 crew with rowers from Dresden and Rostock in the World Cup. Besides Dießner Ullrich and Andreas Gregor Ulrich Kons, Hans Senne forest and Thomas Greiner sat in this boat that won the world title in 1982. 1983 formed the three Dresden Dießner Ullrich, Thomas Greiner and Andrew Gregor a twin with coxswain, who won the world title at first attempt.

Andrew Gregory is a trained Zerspanungsfacharbeiter. After the turn, he worked as a boat builder and caretaker at the Olympic Training Center Dresden.
