Andreas Ihle

Andreas Ihle ( born June 2, 1979 in Bad Duerrenberg ) is a German canoeist.

He started in 1988 at the KC Bad Duerrenberg by canoe racing and starts since 1992 for the SC Magdeburg.

Ihle was in 2000 for the first time to qualify for national and finished at the Olympic Games in Sydney in double kayak with Olaf Winter in fourth place. He became world champion in four-man kayak over 1,000 m in 2001 and went on to win four more medals at World Championships. At the Olympic Games in Athens in 2004, he was silver medalist in the four-man kayak over 1000 m.

Ihles participation in the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008 was long doubtful after his partner Rupert Wagner failed before the published as World Cup Qualification Regatta in Duisburg with a disease. Finally, he joined with Martin Hollstein for shooting in the double kayak over 1000 m and was able to prevail against Norman Zahm and Marcus large and thus secure his third Olympic participation. There Ihle and Hollstein won a surprise gold medal in the double kayak over 1000 m.

At the European Championships in Belgrade in 2011 Ihle and Hollstein won gold in the double kayak over 1000 m. At the Olympic Games in London in 2012, he won the bronze medal in Hollstein double kayak over 1000 m.

Ihle 's sports soldier in the sports promotion group of the Bundeswehr in Frankfurt ( Oder). He lives in Magdeburg.
