Andreas Jakobsson

Andreas Jakobsson ( born October 6, 1972 in Lund, Sweden ) is a former Swedish football player.

Career

After Jakobsson had played in the youth at Teckomatorps SK, 1990, he began his professional career at Landskrona BoIS. After five seasons, he moved in January 1995 to start of the season to Helsingborgs IF, where he became one of the most respected defender of the Allsvenskan. In 1999, he won the Swedish championship title with the club.

In summer 2000 he left Sweden and moved to Germany to hire the then Bundesliga side Hansa Rostock. In his first season he missed and no play against Bayern Munich He even managed a score. After a total of 99 Bundesliga appearances and four goals, he moved in 2003 to the Danish first division club Brøndby IF. At the beginning of the 2004/05 season he played a few games for Brøndby IF and changed hands in August 2004 to England to hire League club Southampton FC at the former Premier. Here he remained but only one season, as the club from the English top flight relegation, and returned in 2005 back to Helsingborgs IF. In 2006 he celebrated the victory in the Swedish Cup. After he had finished his pro career in February 2008 after the sixteenth finals of his club against PSV Eindhoven ( 0:2 and 1:2 ) in the UEFA Cup, the defender playing for Svalövs BK, an amateur club of his place of residence.

Between 1996 and 2004, Jakobsson played 37 times for Sweden, thereby pass him two goals. He participated in the 2002 World Cup and Euro 2004. His breakthrough in the national team has succeeded during the 2002 World Cup, when he surprisingly Patrik Andersson replaced as a central defender. In both tournaments he played in each case all four games of the Swedish team. In August 2004, just two months after the EURO 2004, he announced his retirement from international football.

After his career Jakobsson worked as a representative for artificial turf.
