Andreas Letz

Letz in the GDR Championships 1985

Andreas Letz ( born June 5, 1962 in Sömmerda ) is a former weightlifter from the German Democratic Republic. He started in the weight classes to 56 and to 60 kilograms.

Letz won one gold, five silver and six bronze medals at world championships between 1980 and 1986. He also won several medals at the European Championships, at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow, he finished fourth. In pushing the athletes of the SC Karl- Marx-Stadt was doing even Second, medals will be awarded at the Olympics but only in single combat.

In addition, the Karl- Marx-Stadt set two world records in 1983 and 1981 in pushing a world record in the total.

1984 Andreas Letz was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in bronze.
