Andreas Linger

Andreas Linger (born 31 May 1981 in Hall in Tirol ) is a former Austrian luger who was together with his younger brother Wolfgang double Olympic champion and three-time world champion in doubles.

Career

In 2002 Andreas Linger and his brother took part in the Olympic Games in Salt Lake City, finishing in 8th place. At the World Championships in 2003, the duo was able to triumph and also in third place with the team. At the European Championships 2004 Andreas Linger both in doubles and with the team of third parties. The career highlights was followed in 2006 with the Olympic gold medal at the Games in Turin and the title defense at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver. At the 2011 World Championships in Cesana, he won with his brother, his second world title in doubles. It was after the 2006 Olympic Games and the European Championships in 2008 her third medal at major events in Cesana. Furthermore, they were able to defend their world title success at the World Championships 2012 in Altenberg. As part of the Austrian team, they participated in the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, where she won the silver medal. On March 30, 2014, Wolfgang and Andreas Linger announced the end of their active careers.
