Andreas Ogris

Andreas Ogris ( born October 7, 1964 in Vienna ) is a retired Austrian football player.

Career

In 63 international matches from 1986 to 1997 for the Austrian national team, he scored 11 goals and prepared several before. For years, he made the national team together with Toni Polster a dangerous attacking partnership, which had European format. Under Ernst Happel Ogris wore the captain's armband, an honor that was bestowed only a few footballers in their career. Among the clubs for which he played, among others: Favoritner AC, Austria Vienna, Admira Wacker, Espanyol and the Linzer ASK. In 1990 he was elected to the Austrian player of the year.

He became famous in Austria Vienna, where for years he played as a winger and reached cult status among fans. Legendary are his duels with the Rapid player Didi Kühbauer.

Among his greatest successes was the World Cup finals in 1990, where he scored a goal against the U.S., which paved the way for him to Espanyol in the Spanish Primera Division. To transfer a then-record sum of 40 million shillings was realized. Since the Spaniards, who had kept the striker like that last installment could not muster, Ogris was again a year later at Austria Vienna.

After his active career as a player, he worked among others at PSV team for Vienna, 1st Simmering SC and ASK Schwadorf as a coach. Today he kicks now and then in the Copa Pele team, the Austrian Senior National Team, along with veterans such as Herbert Prohaska, Toni Polster, Hans Krankl and Michael Konsel, and since September 2006 in Vienna Celtics in the Vienna House of Commons.

In 2006 he created next to his barber shop, he has for years, with the opening of betting shops in the Vienna Prater a second income. He also works as an individual coach of the Austria Academy.

He first trained from 21 February 2014 to the summer of FK Austria Wien Amateure.

His brother Ernst was also a professional footballer, but less successful.
