Andreas Romar

Andreas Romar ( born September 4, 1989 in Korsholm ) is a Finnish alpine skier. It starts in the disciplines of downhill and Super -G, his sister Tii -Maria is also a ski racer.

Biography

Romar played his first FIS race in November 2004, and two years later came the first missions in the European Cup. After he won earlier in the season 2006/ 07 no less than eight FIS races, he started on 28 January 2007 at slalom in Kitzbuehel for the first time in the World Cup. He however did not reach the second round and initially remained so his only World Cup competition. In February 2007, he participated in his first World Championships in Åre, Sweden and were the best result the 42nd place in the downhill. A month later, he reached the rank 15 exit at the Junior World Championship. The following year he won at the 2008 World Junior Championships as the best result eleventh place in the Super -G.

At the beginning of the season 2008/ 09 went Romar in the indoor competition of Amneville to third place and scored his first podium result in the European Cup. This winter he started doing it again in three slalom competitions in the World Cup, but reached in any of these races the goal. In his second World Championships in Val d'Isere in 2009, he took part in the slalom, but was disqualified in the first run of the qualifying race. The biggest success was the Finn at the Junior World Championships 2009 in Garmisch -Partenkirchen, where he won the bronze medal in the downhill.

In the 2009/10 season, Romar played four World Cup slalom and giant slalom, but again reached in any race the goal. In the European Cup he managed to end the season in the downhill of Tarvisio his second podium finish. At the Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver in 2010, he went in all five disciplines at the start, but reached only in the downhill and giant slalom as the 42nd as the target 30. On 14 January 2011 Romar won his 19th World Cup race, the super-combined at the Lauberhorn in Wengen, as 17 his first World Cup points. At the World Championships 2011 in Garmisch -Partenkirchen, he placed ninth in the super combined.

In the 2011/12 season in which he failed to boot up in the European Cup and fully focused on the World Cup, scored Romar first top-10 results in World Cup race - twice in the Super- G and once in the super combined. His best results were two seventh places in the Super G in Val Gardena and Kvitfjell. Both in the Super G and Combined World Cup, he finished in 15th place at the World Cup 2013 in Schladming surprised Romar 4th place in the Super Combined and 5th place in the downhill.

At the beginning of the 2013/14 season to Romar drew the downhill training in Lake Louise a heel injury and had to miss out the entire season.
