Andreas Schaad

Andreas Schaad ( born April 18, 1965) is a former Swiss Nordic combined.

Career

Even before his first World Cup start took Schaad for Switzerland at the Nordic World Ski Championships 1985 in Seefeld in Tirol part. After he reached the 9th place there, he started off the season 1985 /86 for the Swiss national team. He played his first World Cup on December 21, 1985 in Tarvisio, where he reached the 7th place. After several top 10 placings he started again at the Nordic World Ski Championships 1987 in Switzerland and reached with the team in the team competition to 5th place. At the Olympic Winter Games in Calgary in 1988 he reached the silver medal with the team. The following year, he again reached the silver medal in the team competition at the Nordic World Ski Championships 1989 in Lahti. Since then, he only achieved mediocre finishes, he was temporarily taken out of the national team and also started twice in B- World Cup. In addition, he was not nominated for the Nordic World Ski Championships 1991. Only the Nordic World Ski Championships 1993 in Falun, he took due to better results in the World Cup for Switzerland again in the team competition and arrived with the team to 4th place. His last major competition was the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer, where he again won the bronze medal with the team. After the Olympics, Schaad ended his career. Andreas Schaad now leads a small shop in Studen SZ. In March 2013 he won along with his two half-brothers Roman and Fabian Schaad the silver medal at the Swiss cross-country championships in Sedrun in the discipline 3 x 7.5 km relay.
