Andreas Vinciguerra

Andreas Vinciguerra ( born February 19, 1981 in Malmö) is a Swedish tennis player.

Career

1998 Vinciguerra turned professional and competed in several ITF Futures, of which he won one. He also played at the ATP World Tour tournaments in Bastad and Stockholm, but failed each equal in the first round. The following year, he reached for the first time in Båstad an ATP final. In Stockholm and Shanghai, he was at least the quarter-finals and finished the year 1999 ranked 99 in the world rankings.

In 2000, it went for Vinciguerra uphill. He reached in his Grand Slam debut the third round of the Australian Open and won his first tournament in Copenhagen on the ATP Tour. At the Miami Masters failed only in the third round by defeating Karol Kucera and Marat Safin after a 1-0 set lead to Pete Sampras. He was at his Davis Cup debut against India win both the singles and came at the Olympic Games in Sydney in the second round.

In 2001 he arrived at Rome Masters and the Paris Masters semi-finals at the Australian Open, reaching the second round. He finished the year on the 34th place in the world rankings. In January 2002, began a series of injuries. Shortly after the Australian Open, where he reached the second round, he broke a finger playing football and only returned in April back to the tour. However, he was sidelined three months again because of back problems after his first round defeat at the Monte Carlo Masters. He then played five Challengerturniere, where he once came into the quarter - and semi-finals once. 2006, he reached four finals on the Challenger Tour and won one of them. In the years 2007 and 2008 he was able to play a single tournament because several operations on the knee. In 2009 he again received a wildcard for the Swedish Open in Bastad and reached the semi-finals surprising.

Vinciguerra approached in nine games for Sweden in the Davis Cup and was able to win three of its 15 individual lots.
