Andreas Wenzel

Andreas "Andy" Wenzel ( born March 18, 1958 in planks ) is a former ski racer from Liechtenstein.

Together with his sister Hanni he was active in the late 1970s and the 1980s in the Ski World Cup. He won at the Junior European Championships 1975 in Mayrhofen the gold medal in the giant slalom. The World Ski Championships 1978 in Garmisch -Partenkirchen, the all-rounder won the combination and the silver medal in the giant slalom. In combination with the 1980 Olympic Games in Lake Placid, he finished second. This competition was only held as a World Cup, so there was not an Olympic medal here. However, he won silver in the giant slalom. At the 1984 Olympic Games in Sarajevo, he was able to win the bronze medal in the giant slalom.

In the Ski World Cup, he won a total of 14 times, 6 times in the combination. He won the overall World Cup in 1980. In 2006 Wenzel received the Golden Bay Leaf, the highest sports award Liechtenstein awarded. His sister had received this award in 2004.

Since 2007 he has been President of the Liechtenstein Ski Federation ( CBF).
