Andrei Popov (ice hockey)

Andrei Vladislavovich Popov (Russian: Андрей Владиславович Попов; born July 15, 1988 in Chelyabinsk, Russian SFSR ) is a Russian ice hockey player who is under contract with HC Traktor Chelyabinsk of the Kontinental Hockey League since 2005.

Career

Andrei Popov began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the junior department of the HC Traktor Chelyabinsk, for the second team, he was active from 2003 to 2005 in the third-class Perwaja league. Then the winger was in the 2005/06 season his debut for the first team of HK tractor in the Wysschaja League, the second Russian league. With his team he thereby succeeded in rising as second division champions in the Super League, in which he ran aground in the following two years.

Since the 2008/ 09 season Popov is the HC Traktor Chelyabinsk in the newly formed Kontinental Hockey League on the ice. In parallel, he came in the 2009/10 season for the tractor boys team in the multinational junior league Molodjoschnaja Chokkeinaja League used and scored 26 points scorer, of which eleven goals in 14 games. For the KHL team he scored in the same period in 54 games 15 goals and gave twelve templates.

Internationally

For Russia Popov took part in the Under-18 Junior World Cup in 2006. In six games, he scored three goals while and gave two assists.
