Andrei Zuev

Andrei Alexandrovich Zuev (Russian: Андрей Александрович Зуев; born May 18, 1964 in the Russian SFSR ) is a retired Russian professional ice hockey goaltender and current coach.

Career

Andrei Zuev began his career as a hockey player for Metallurg Chelyabinsk and Sverdlovsk Awtomobilist for which he was also in the Wysschaja League, the highest Soviet League, active 1983-1991. For the 1991/92 season, the goalkeeper moved to the HC Traktor Chelyabinsk, for which he stood from 1992 to 1996 in the International Hockey League between the posts. In the 1992/93 season he was voted the best player in the league. From 1996 to 1999 he ran for Traktor Chelyabinsk and then also for three years for their city neighbors Mechel Chelyabinsk HK in the Russian Super League. Most recently, he appeared from 2002 to 2005 for the HC Traktor Chelyabinsk in the subprime Wysschaja league. Then he ended his active career at the age of 41 years.

From 2008 to 2010 Zuev worked as an assistant coach for the HC Traktor Chelyabinsk in the Kontinental Hockey League. He then spent two years as a goalkeeper coach in the league rivals OHK Dynamo. For the 2012/13 season he was goalkeeping coach at HK Sokol Krasnoyarsk from the Wysschaja Hockey League, the Russian second division.

Internationally

For Russia Zuev participated in the World Championships in 1993 and 1995. In addition, he was in the squad of his country at the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer. At the 1993 World Championships he won the gold medal with his team.
