Andrej Jerman

Andrej Jerman ( born September 30, 1978 in Tržič ) is a former Slovenian skier. He specializes in the disciplines of downhill and Super -G.

Biography

1998 Jerman Vice Junior World champion in the super -G. His first race at the Alpine Skiing World Cup, he played in the season 1998 /99. Besides a few uses in the slalom and a giant slalom race in he drives mainly in the disciplines of downhill and Super -G and in combination, in Wengen, he could classify among the top 10 in 2002 for the first time in the World Cup. The combination was first also the only discipline in which he could bring World Cup points regularly.

Since the season 2006/ 07 Jerman runs very strongly in the downhill. In December 2006, he was twelfth in Beaver Creek, ninth in Val Gardena and fourth and ninth in the downhill in Bormio. On 23 February 2007, he then won the downhill in Garmisch -Partenkirchen. This was the first downhill victory of Slovenes in the World Cup. A day later, he finished second behind Guay. On 29 December 2009 he won the downhill in Bormio his second World Cup victory. As a result, he was able to place in the top ten only sporadically. Due to injury, he had to pause for almost the entire 2011/12 season.

From 2002 to 2011 Jerman participated in all Olympic Winter Games and World Championships at the start. His best Olympic result was a 19th place in the combination in Turin in 2006. At the World Championships he reached in 2009 in Val d'Isere with 12th place in the Super Combined and 13th in the downhill its best results.

On January 26, 2013 Jerman crashed on the Streif in Kitzbühel and broke a little later together. He was flown to initial treatment by helicopter to the hospital where a concussion was diagnosed. Three days after the accident, he announced his immediate resignation.
