Andrej Å porn

Andrej Sporn ( born December 1, 1981 in Kranj ) is a Slovenian alpine skier. He drives mainly race in the disciplines of downhill and Super -G.

Biography

In December 1996, spur participated in his first FIS races, from January 1999 then served in the European Cup. On 10 December 2001 he played his first World Cup race, the slalom at Madonna di Campiglio. It took more than three years until he in the slalom in Flachau on 4 January 2004 for the first time won the World Cup points with 20th place. A week later, he surprised in Chamonix sixth of the combination. At the beginning of the next winter he reached eighth place in the slalom in Beaver Creek.

The following two years were characterized by numerous failures and qualifications to second runs. Spur took a gradual shift from the technical to the speed disciplines in which he hoped to be more successful. In the season 2005/ 06 he reached the fifth place in the Hahnenkamm combination of Kitzbühel and the sixth in the super combined in Chamonix. Following mediocre performances in the following years he surprised on January 23, 2010 with the second place in the Hahnenkamm downhill in Kitzbuehel. Other top -10 results in departures followed.

Spur took part twice so far in the Olympics and World Championships three times. At the Olympic Winter Games in Turin in 2006, he was 15th in the Super G, 2010 in Vancouver in the same discipline 18th at the World Championships 2005 in Bormio, he retired in both the slalom and in the combination of; at the 2007 World Championships in Åre, he finished in 19th place in the downhill. After he had not participated in the 2009 World Championship, he reached the sixth place in the downhill and 20th place in the Super G at the 2011 World Championships in Garmisch -Partenkirchen.

In Winter Universiade spur won from 2001 to 2005 depending on a gold, silver and bronze medal. From 2004 to 2008, he was five times Slovenian champion.
