Andres Tarand

Andres Tarand (born 11 January 1940 in Tallinn) is an Estonian politician. He was from 1994 to 1995 Prime Minister of the Republic of Estonia and is currently a member of the European Parliament.

Scientist

Andres Tarand graduated in 1963 his study of climatology at the University of Tartu. In 1973 he made ​​a second degree in geography. He was from 1968 to 1988 worked as a research assistant at the University of Tartu. From 1988 to 1990 he was director of the Botanical Garden of the University. He sat down in the period of perestroika deeply committed to environmental concerns and a detachment of Estonia by the Soviet Union.

Estonian policy
