Andrew Grove

Andrew Stephen Grove ( born September 2, 1936 in Budapest; actually Gróf András István [ ɡro ː f ɒndra ː ʃ iʃtva ː n]) is known as co-founder of Intel.

Biography

Grove was born the son of a Jewish merchant family.

Disappointed by the political developments in Hungary in the 1950s, he left after the failed popular uprising end of 1956 the country for the USA and changed his name to Andrew S. Grove. In 1962 he became an American citizen. He studied chemistry, he joined in 1960 from USA and obtained his doctorate in 1963 at the University of California, Berkeley. As an assistant, he went in 1967 to Fairchild Semiconductor in research and development. The then chief of this department was Gordon Moore, who was to accompany him throughout his life.

Moore and Robert Noyce founded in 1968, the company Intel, Grove met briefly mentioning it. Nickname Grove at Intel was Mr. Clean, 2004 Grove stepped back from active working life as a CEO of Intel.
