Andrew Jay " Drew " Feustel ( born August 25, 1965 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA) is an American astronaut.

Training

Feustel graduated in on the Lake Orion High School. He then studied geology at Purdue University and graduated in 1989 with a bachelor's degree. There he acquired in 1991 and a master's degree in geophysics. In 1995, Feustel doctorate at the Canadian Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario in Geosciences, especially seismology.

Activity in the industry

Then Andrew Feustel worked as a geophysicist for the Engineering Seismology Group, Kingston and installed and operational seismic monitoring equipment in mines in eastern Canada and the USA. In 1997 he went to ExxonMobil Exploration Company Houston, Texas, to develop as a geophysicist seismic monitoring programs worldwide on land, at sea and in boreholes and monitor.

Spaceman activity

In 2000 he was elected to the 18th group of NASA astronauts and two years trained as a mission specialist. His specialty is the technical support of space operations.

STS -125

Feustel took part as mission specialist on the Space Shuttle mission STS -125, which launched to the last servicing of the Hubble Space Telescope on May 11, 2009. The landing took place on 24 May 2009 at Edwards Air Force Base.

STS -134

On 11 August 2009 Feustel was nominated for the shuttle mission STS- 134. The start to this final mission of the space shuttle Endeavour took place on 16 May 2011, the landing on June 1.

Private

Feustel is married and has two children. His hobbies include restoring old cars, skiing and playing the guitar. He is a member of the astronaut band Max Q.
