Andrew Loog Oldham

Andrew Loog Oldham ( born January 29, 1944) is a musician and was from 1963 to 1967 Manager of the Rolling Stones.

Life

His mother was Australian, his late father during the Second World War Dutch- American origin.

1955 Oldham prescribed to the rock and was expelled at the age of 16 years of school, because he often skipped classes. He worked in the short term for a designer and then as a pop singer tried, but had very little success with it.

In February 1963, he offered himself to Brian Epstein that he wanted to help him, Gerry and the Pacemakers bring out great. However, the cooperation ended in April. Looking for a job he came along with the magazine Record Mirror, gasping there in a conversation the word " wild " on. His interest in the Rolling Stones was aroused, and he took the next opportunity, a concert, get to know the Rolling Stones. He was impressed by them and spoke to them right after the concert. In this conversation, he offered them to become their manager. Mick Jagger and Keith Richards were in turn impressed by him, and so they met to work out a contract. This agreement was established that Oldham should be worried about the image of the Rolling Stones, while Eric Easton took over the financial.

In March of 1964, before John Dunbar Oldham his girlfriend ( and later wife ) Marianne Faithfull. Oldham was impressed, and to promote it, he asked the Rolling Stones, a song for her to write, which then with the ballad As Tears Go By also doing this.

In the fall of 1967 Oldham was released by the Rolling Stones.

In 1966 Oldham founded the record label Immediate Records. As a producer he could even Mick Jagger and Keith Richards win among others. The label had artists such as The Small Faces, The Nice, Chris Farlowe, Amen Corner and Humble Pie under contract. After 28 albums Immediate Records was dissolved in 1970.
