Andrew Mondshein

Andrew Steven Moon Hein ( born February 28, 1957) is an American editor.

Life

Moon Hein grew up on the East Coast and lived for a time in Florida, where he received his bachelors degree from the University of Florida. During his studies he was interested particularly the films of the 60s and 70s by Stanley Kubrick and Sidney Lumet. After graduating, he moved to New York and assisted Peter C. Frank for editing in a film by Sidney Lumet. Overall, he cut until 1992, five projects for Lumet. He was in 1985 one of the first cutter, who cut a movie on a non-linear system. In the film cut to Lumet's Power is then stood before choosing either the system installation or the editing system Editdroid by George Lucas to use. Since the former was available, we took advantage of assembly. In East Hampton, where Lumet had a summer house, the Director's Cut was cut with the help of an engineer and the entire software team in Massachusetts. Throughout his career, he used different systems, including Moviola, assembly and Avid.

Even with the Swedish director Lasse Hallström Moon Hein a long-standing cooperation. So he cut it for seven projects, including successful movies like Casanova, Gilbert Grape - Somewhere in Iowa and Chocolat - A small bite is enough.

Andrew Moon Hein is a member of the American Cinema Editors. He lives with his wife, producer Leslie Holleran and their children in Larchmont, New York.
