Andrew Norman Meldrum

Andrew Norman Meldrum ( born March 19, 1876 in Alloa, † March 12, 1934 in Edinburgh) was a Scottish chemist. Named after him is the Meldrum's acid, discovered by him.

Meldrum attended colleges in Aberdeen and London and the University of Aberdeen, where he was in 1904 his doctorate with a chemical and historical work. As an academic teacher he worked at the Universities of Aberdeen, Liverpool, Sheffield and Manchester. He went in 1912 to India, where he worked on various university teaching post until his retirement in 1931.

His research interests have included the chemistry of terpenes and related aromatic compounds as well as the history of chemistry.
