Andrew Norman

Andrew Norman (born 27 June 1980) is an English snooker player.

Career

After Norman had won in 1997, the English Under-17 Championship, he could with his victory at the British Under-21 Championship and a second place in the prize money ranking of the Challenge Tour in 2000/ 01 save 2001 a ticket for the Snooker Main Tour.

His debut season 2001 /02 was initially not very successful in the pros and he suffered in the qualifications for the Ranking Tournaments many Erstrundenniederlagen. Only in the qualification for the last tournament of the season, the World Snooker Championship in 2002, it ran much better for him and he won his first three qualifying games. Finally, only in the round of last 64, he had to admit defeat Ian McCulloch. His second season was similar, again he managed to end the season with the round of last 64 achievement in qualifying for the World Cup his best result of the season.

A season later, he also managed the LG Cup and Irish Masters reaching the round of last 64 in qualifying by three victories, but he had to qualify for the World Cup this time to accept a Erstrundeniederlage. He was allowed to enter only one qualifying round later by his slow rise to the Snooker world rankings in the ranking tournaments of the 2003/04 season. In the Welsh Open he made it almost for the first time in the finals of a major tournament, but after three wins he was defeated in the decisive match against Quinten Hann.

A season later he succeeded, however, equal to twice the entrance into the main round big tournaments. At the Grand Prix where he won his first match even against Michael Judge and retired as a first knockout round, where he narrowly lost Michael Holt with 4:5. At the China Open, however he suffered after successfully qualifying defeat against the local Wildcardpspieler Yu Delu.

Highlights of his 2006/07 season was a second round participation in the Grand Prix and a finals appearance at the Northern Ireland Trophy. At the end of the season he had with number 42 his highest ever World Ranking position held at all. The following season was five Erstrundenniederlagen little success. His bad run continued, so he 2009/10 had to leave after the end of the season the professional tour.

During the 2010/11 season he played on the Players Tour Championship and made it there once to the quarterfinals. At the end of the season he made about the newly launched Q School re- qualification for the professional tour, but could not hold in the top 64 and fell after a year out.
