Andrew Poppy

Andrew Poppy (* May 29, 1954 in Kent, England ) is a British composer, pianist and music producer.

He studied music from 1974 to 1979 at the Royal Holloway College and at Goldsmiths College, University of London. In 1981 he was one of the founding members of the band The Lost Jockey, created the compositions in the style of Philip Glass, Steve Reich and Louis Andriessen and performed. In 1982 he contributed the orchestral arrangements for the debut album Force The Hand of Chance the industrial band Psychic TV. Later, he also created arrangements for Erasure, The The, The House of Love, Strawberry Switchblade and Nitzer Ebb.

His debut album as a solo artist was The Beating of Wings, which was released in 1985 with ZTT ​​and on which he was both himself heard at the piano as also conducts a larger ensemble in the performance of his orchestral compositions. Since then he has released several albums, including 2005, the album Another Language with Claudia Bridges ( ex- Propaganda ).

Poppy doctrine teaches composition at Trinity College of Music in Greenwich, London.
