Andrew Raycroft

Andrew Joseph Ernest Raycroft ( born May 4, 1980 in Belleville, Ontario ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender who stands since July 2012 in Milano Rossoblu from the Italian Serie A1 under contract.

Career

Raycroft started his career in the Ontario Hockey League in Canada. 2000/ 01 he moved to the Providence Bruins ( AHL ), the farm team of the Boston Bruins after they had taken in the NHL Entry Draft in 1998 to 135th place in the fifth round him. Already this season he could be present in 15 games for Boston. He spent the following season continues with the Providence Bruins and was used only once in Boston. 2002/ 03 he played five times for Boston. The 2003/04 season was his first full NHL season. This season, he came up with 57 games for Boston and received the Calder Memorial Trophy as the best rookie.

The time of the lockout spent Raycroft in the Finnish SM- liiga in Tappara Tampere.

In 2005 he returned to the NHL. He came up with 30 games in Boston, but had to contend with bars, tendon and knee injuries. This season marked his worst so far. Raycroft could produce only eight wins in 30 games and recorded a high Gegentorschnitt of 3.7 and a catch rate of only 87.9 %. He lost his position as number one on Tim Thomas.

In a swap in June 2006 Raycroft changed for the 2006/07 season to the Toronto Maple Leafs, the charges for the young goalkeeper Tuukka Rask to Boston. In Toronto, he joined the successor to Ed Belfour, whose contract ended. In his first season with Toronto he was like as a goalkeeper from the franchise record of 37 wins in a season, missed the end but with the team to the playoffs.

For the season 2007/ 08 Toronto undertook with the Finn Vesa Toskala a competitor to the goalkeeper position. Toskala finally asserted itself as the root force, while Raycroft with only two victories in 19 missions could not convince. The management drew the consequences and paid the ongoing until 2009 Treaty of Raycroft from. Then signed Raycroft a contract with the Colorado Avalanche where he again remained one year. In the 2009/10 season, he was back-up for Roberto Luongo for the Vancouver Canucks. This agreement also ended after one year. On 1 July 2010 he finally signed a temporary two -year contract with the Dallas Stars. In the second year of the contract he was also at the Texas Stars of the AHL for use before the summer of 2012 he moved to Europe. He signed at Milano Rossoblu that participated again at the first Italian championship after the climb.
