Andrew Sachs

Andrew Sachs ( born April 7, 1930 in Berlin ) is a German - British actor.

Sachs was born in Berlin as Andreas Siegfried Sachs. His family fled to England in 1938 to escape the Nazi persecution of the Jews.

Sachs is known for his role as Manuel, the Spanish waiter in the sitcom Fawlty Towers (1975 and 1979 ) and is now from time to time heard as the narrator of television and radio documentaries and audio books. He is married to Melody Lang, who appeared in an episode of Fawlty Towers, in Basil the Rat, as Mrs. Taylor. His stepson is John Sachs, a former Capital Radio DJ and Gladiators commentator ( a game show of the 1990s ). Today Andrews brother Thomas Sachs lives in Toronto.

From 1984 to 1986 Sachs played the Father Brown, in a BBC radio series, based on the stories by Gilbert Keith Chesterton. Sachs said all the voices in the English version by Jan Švankmajer's film Faust.

Sachs also appeared in many children's programs on television, as William 's Wish Wellingtons, Star Hill Ponies and AlfTales. He was also the narrator in several television documentaries, among others, the ... from Hell series of ITV and the Eyewitness videos.

2002 and 2004 he played Dr. John Watson in two seasons of new Sherlock Holmes stories for BBC Radio 4, in which Clive Merrison took over the role of the famous detective. These consequences were sent as The Further Adventures of Sherlock Holmes and are available on CD and MC.
