Andrew Stuart (Ohio)

Andrew Stuart ( born August 3, 1823 in the vicinity of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, † April 30, 1872 in Washington DC ) was an American politician of the Democratic Party. From 1853 to 1855 he was a member of the House of Representatives of the United States for the 21th Congressional District of the State of Ohio.

Biography

In the vicinity of Pittsburgh in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania Andrew Stuart was born. In 1834 he moved with his mother to Pittsburgh. He attended the public schools. After his schooling, he worked as an editor at a newspaper. In 1850 he moved to Steubenville, there to act as editor of the American Union.

In the 1852 congressional elections, he was elected as a representative of the 21st District of Ohio in the U.S. House of Representatives. There he represented the 21th district until 1855. After his retirement he worked as a transporter. In 1869 he settled in Washington, D.C., where he died in 1872. He was buried in the Union Cemetery in Steubenville.
