Andrey Kozyrev

Andrei Vladimirovich Kozyrev (Russian: Андрей Владимирович Козырев; born March 27, 1951 in Brussels ) was a Russian Foreign Minister under the government of Boris Yeltsin. He held his office from October 1990 until his dismissal in January 1996 ( and was succeeded by the later Prime Minister Yevgeny Primakov ).

Kozyrev is a graduate of the Moscow State Institute of International Relations.

Since 1968 he worked at the Soviet Foreign Ministry, where he was Head of the Department for International Organizations, 1986-1990.

In 1993, he testified with his American counterpart, Warren Christopher, for Russia the Oslo agreement. His course, however, was felt by a large majority of Parliament as pandering to NATO, which conducted his replacement by Yevgeny Primakov Maximowitsch.
