Andrius Skerla

Andrius Skerla ( born April 29, 1977 in Vilnius, Lithuanian SSR) is a Lithuanian football assistant coach, former football player and most capped player in his country.

Career

Clubs

He began his career in 1995 with his local club FK Zalgiris Vilnius and joined the Dutch Ehrendivisonär PSV Eindhoven, but he only played 25 games in two years in 1998. More successful was his involvement in the Scottish first division club Dunfermline Athletic, where he was immediately inserted into the starting eleven, and for which he was a total for five years. He was at this time offered by other Scottish clubs, including Rangers, but remained in Dunfermline, with his team in 2004 he reached the cup final, which was lost to the league rivals Celtic Glasgow 1:3; Skerla scored the only goal for his club.

This was followed by short-term engagements with the Russian premier league aufsteiger Tom Tomsk, the Lithuanian Vilnius Vėtra first division and the Polish first division club Korona Kielce before 2008 a contract with Premier League rivals Jagiellonia Białystok signed.

National

His first cap for Lithuania, he played on November 3, 1996 to the 4-0 win over Indonesia and then played in all European and World Championship qualifications, but failed to qualify for any World Cup or European Championship with Lithuania. On 4 June 2008, he broke with his 66th international game, that Lithuania lost in Burghausen against Russia 1:4, Aurelijus Skarbalius as most capped player from Lithuania.
